Yesterday, I went to Baytree Garden Centre with my boyfriend and his parents. While wandering around, I came across a little crystal stall run by Wychwillow Crafts. They had so many different stones, it was hard to know where to start. On a bit of a whim, I closed my eyes and picked four completely at random: Moonstone, Serpentine, Petrified Wood and Opal.
And today, I’ve decided to start writing on my blog again. These crystals feel like a good way to get back into it, and I’ve been learning a bit about what each one means. Honestly, it’s spurred me on to want to learn more about crystals and holistic beliefs in general. I’m curious to see what else is out there.
Moonstone – Intuition and Balance
Moonstone’s all about trusting your instincts and staying balanced. It’s a little reminder not to overthink everything and just go with what feels right.
Serpentine – Grounding and Letting Go
Serpentine is grounding and protective. It’s supposed to help you let go of old patterns and feel secure while you make changes. I like the idea of it helping me leave stuff behind that I don’t need anymore.
Petrified Wood – Patience and Stability
Petrified Wood is all about slow, steady growth. It reminds me that progress doesn’t need to be rushed and that patience is just as important as action.
Opal – Creativity and Expression
Opal amplifies feelings and encourages honest expression. I’m hoping it will nudge me to try new hobbies, be a bit more creative, and just explore things that interest me.
Why These Four Work Together
Together, they feel like a mix of being grounded, protected, intuitive and expressive. A good combination for heading into 2026: steady but open to change.
How I Plan to Use Them
- Moonstone – Reflect and Listen: Keep it nearby when I’m trying something new or experimenting with a hobby, to remind me to trust my instincts.
- Serpentine – Let Go and Reset: Hold or carry it when I feel stuck or want to clear out old habits.
- Petrified Wood – Stay Grounded: Keep it somewhere at home where I spend a lot of time, to help me stay patient and grounded while learning or trying new things.
- Opal – Boost Creativity: Keep it near my desk or craft area as a little reminder to be creative and explore my interests.
I didn’t plan to pick these crystals with any purpose, but somehow they ended up being exactly what I needed. A little reminder to try new things, be creative, focus on myself, and start learning more about crystals and holistic beliefs as I head into the new year.
